I love the texture this simple quilting provides and it looks pretty cool on the minky back.
This one is a Quilt for Boston, again with an all over quilting pattern not to distract from the blocks.
I am suffering a quilter's creativity block right now as to how to quilt the third one. Any suggestions?
Each year the wonderful Beth at Plum and June hosts a blog hop for new bloggers. I participated last year and it was a wonderful way to "meet" other quilting bloggers who were more or less at the same stage as I when it came to blogging. As in the past, there are some amazingly talented people in this year's group, well worth a visit !
Linking up with Lorna's Let's Bee Social and Lee's WIP Wednesday linky parties!
Kathy
I love the colours and fabric choices for your quilts. I've just discovered 'loops' (I've heard them called loop de loops?) and using them on my latest project. I'll have to try the long loops you've done on the pink minky. Dropping by from Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteThree at once....I am literally lol...good to know I'm in good company when it comes to doing many things as once...hey life would be so boring if we didn't! Love your work Kath! All three of these are beautiful finishes!!
ReplyDeleteI love your bright colored quilt! My first instinct on the Star Wars quilt was to do some simple echo stitching because you do not want to detract from the prints. But then I was thinking maybe some stars would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteHow about meadering stars for quilting ?
ReplyDeleteHow about meandering stars for quilting, in light grey thread ?
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been busy!!! I love the pink and green:-) Maybe just quilt around the Star Wars panels to make them standout. You could also do some straight lines in the sashing...
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is beautiful. Do those clips on the quilt make a big difference? Your prints on the Star Wars quilt are so busy that I would do an all over design that will blend in and tie everything together.
ReplyDeleteI really like that pink quilt with the minky backing! It looks very cuddly. :)
ReplyDeleteI've wondered how those were coming along. Looking good!! :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmk5THXNroM but on a larger scale and less densely quilted for your Star Wars quilt? ( a glow in the dark thread would be really awesome ;-)
I think it depends on how densely you want it quilted. Somewhere today (there've been a lot of stops on the hop! In addition to the normal Instagram/blog stalking) I saw overlapping crop circles (I think that's what she called it) that might work really well for the Stars Wars quilt. Or I'd suggest a concentric circle, but that's really hard on the longarm, right? Maybe I just have circles on the brain today. :D
ReplyDeleteyour quilting looks awesome! and hooray for the blog hop. I know I LOVED participating last year!
ReplyDelete:) Kelly @ My Quilt Infatuation
Love your quiltings so far. It would be awesome to quilt in some jet fighters on the star wars quilt. Not even sure how to go about that but it sounds cool :) I am participating this year in the blog hop. You're right its so much fun!
ReplyDeleteNice quilting, Kathy! How about something less curvy and more masculine for the Star Wars quilt. Like this example by Leah Day... Cave Points http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.ca/2010/10/day-222-cave-points.html
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Wow, that last one is a bit tricky. How about a spiral to one corner and then echoing to cover overall?
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilting! Your quilt looks fun
