WIP Wednesday Odds and Ends

Have I told you how much I dislike basting quilts?
I keep reminding myself that I have to get through this stage to get to my favorite part...the quilting.

Beautiful scraps need to be used.  These are left over from the Sea Glass quilt and are destined to be a small pillow for the bedroom.

And I am thinking about starting a project with these squares:
I love the feel and texture of Essex Linen but it definitely is stiffer than the 100% cotton.  I am curious to see how they play together.

I hope you have a chance to come by and visit again soon!   I am working on a couple of posts that you might find interesting!  In the interim, it is Wednesday:

  1. Basting is the devil. I despise it! On the bright side, you quilt looks fantastic! As do the hexies! I hope you'll link it up at Needle and Thread Thursday!

    1. I'm so glad you decided to share this at Needle and Thread Thursday! Thanks!

      :) Kelly

  2. OOOOOO, that first quilt is stunning! I hear you about the basting!

  3. I am not a fan of the basting either--hard on the shoulders and neck!
I really like those Sea Glass colors--very pretty.
(Have you heard of the "Quilts for Calgary" on Cheryl's site (", very worthy cause and easy peasy--)Hugs, Julierose

  4. basting is definitely one of those evil necessities!

    It's a beautiful quilt!

    pretty hexies too:)

  5. Ahh, I really dislike basting as well. However, that quilt is gorgeous!

  6. Basting may not be fun, but it's totally necessary. I always feel like I need an adjustment, or a good massage, afterwards. Your quilt look great and I love your hexies.

  7. I don't mind basting because I have a big space on the floor to sit and watch TV and my handy Kwik Klip to shut all those safety pins. All of your WIPs look fantastic!

  8. I like your quilt top--and hate pin basting too. My fingers got so sore from those pins that I started basting using water-soluble thread instead of pins. It went faster and came out in the wash--no need to remove pins. However, I usually put in a good movie to remove pins the removing wasn't the issue, just he pinning! Keep going it looks great!

  9. You are not alone!!!!
I wish there would be someone else doing that for me!!!
    Like the quilt to be!!!

  10. Looks great. I just love the colors you are working with in both. The top quilt is on my list, but I haven't picked out colors yet.

  11. That first quilt is just stunning! Love the colors, they're so vibrant!

  12. Lovely bunch of projects! as for the basting... i'm with ya! So much so that i won't pin anymore... spray baste for me all the way.

  13. This quilt ist going to be amazing!!!
