Finished - Milo's First Birthday Quilt

Really, a grandchild can't have too many quilts, right?! I don't know if I will ever get back to quilt in-process posts on this blog but maintaining a catalog of finishes will ensure you get to see the final product.

Economy block quilts are perfect for fussy cutting fun motifs for little ones. With the exception of a few Mickey Mouse prints, I had all of this fabric in my stash (see note below on the stash status).

I made a very similar quilt for Milo's older cousin and seeing how much it has been loved, I had to make another. I'm not usually a fan of borders on quilts but this blue border combined with the black and white
striped binding work well together.

And how about that super soft and adorable minky backing?!

Another fun finish!

About my stash:  Over the last year I have finished and started several quilts.  My goal was to use fabric on hand and, in some cases, this influenced the quilt style selected. With the exception of some very specific prints (like Mickey Mouse), one impulse buy and a lovely bundle of gifted Christmas scraps I have not added to my modest fabric collection. Now one would think that this would result in a noticeable decrease in the stash but that did not happen! I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever use all this fabric in my lifetime!  The more likely scenario is that I will continue to buy fabric that warms my heart and let the kids deal with the remaining collection after I'm gone!
