More Splendid Finished Blocks

The hip recovery continues to slowly progress.  As I can't go outside to play (bad hip and ice is not a great combination) I have been doing a little sewing.  Some I can even show you!

I continue to stay on top of the Splendid Sampler blocks.  Here we are with only seven blocks to go!  I have to admit this has been a fun project with a mish mash of blocks that somehow actually look like they might work well together.  This is what 93 blocks looks like:
And, here are a few block close ups:

#89 - From Colorado to the MidWest

#90 - Juggling

#91 - Gran's Button Jar

#92 - Double Bees

#93 - Tiny Miracles

I've made several blocks for the Shimmer quilt.  It's nice to have a project all pre-cut that I can sit down and sew up a block or two at a time.

I'm very happy with how these blocks are coming out.  This one maybe my favorite:

My little grand-dog Tucker has been visiting with us this week and has been a very helpful companion in the sewing room.

It's a beautiful January here in New Hampshire.  I'll be outside soon!

Have a great day!
Kathy

  1. I hope your recovery goes well, having hand work to do certainly helps with keeping your mind occupied when sick. Have a great weekend.

  2. You have made excellent progress on the Splendid sampler blocks. The bees are darling! Hope you heal quickly so you can get out and enjoy your beautiful surroundings. (Hi Tucker!)

  3. Glad your recovery is going well--can't be comfortable going through it all! My hubster just had his first eye surgery Thursday--his turn for cataracts--while my eyes are amazingly good...I am so grateful to be able to really see clearly...
Tucker must be your constant companion--dogs know when you are "under the weather" --he is a cutie.
    I LOVE your blocks--what an amazing array..you are a fabulous piecer...wish I
could say the same...ack!! Take good care-hugs, Julierose

  7. Kathy! These blocks are fabulous!! They make me wish I could have joined in the fun... All that worrying about them not going together was wasted, wasn't it ;-)
I wasn't the hugest fan of Shimmer, but your blocks are spectacular. Of course, your penny patch called to me when nobody else's did also, so I shouldn't be surprised.
I'm glad you are healing well, and behaving responsibly. Happy Stitching and stay warm ~ Tracy

  8. Oh wow! Your Splendid Sampler blocks are so neat! What a lot of work though. I've done so many sampler quilts and BOMs over the past 25 years that I've sworn off them. I've learned for myself that I always begin them full of enthusiasm, and then struggle to complete the blocks, let alone turn them into a finished quilt! It's lovely to see YOU doing them though! Ha. Sorry to hear about the need for a hip replacement. I hope you got the "new" version of the surgery, and that you're healing well. Yes, do stay indoors until spring! Ha! No need to take any risks.

  9. Bummer on the slow recovery! You need some shoe spikes to go out and get some fresh air! Those splendid sampler blocks are so unique and individual but look great all together! They are going to be just as stunning as your Tula quilt!

  11. Your sampler is amazing....the pictures of Tucker and outside your porch are wonderful. At least winter is a good time to heal....as there is not as much to do outside. Slow but sure wines the race. Hang in there!!!

  13. I have that cat fabric! It's going to grow up into a quilt for a dear friend for when she retires...which I think is going to be at the end of June!
