Finished - Delectable Mountain Quilt

The delectable mountain quilt block has been on my list for a while.  You know, living near mountains, lakes, etc.  Then I saw this quilt by Janice Prytz in Quilty magazine (Jan/Feb 2015):
Holly Taylor's Birch Bark Lodge seemed like the perfect fabric for these mountains.

I quilted this in an all over leaf motive that coordinates well with the backing fabric.

We had so much fun photographing this quilt amidst the local scenery.

This quilt has been gifted to the very talented guy who was the project manager for our house renovation.  Thanks to Doug's oversight, the renovation was completed on time (in record time for a renovation of this size we are told) and we couldn't be happier with the results!  A quilt is the least I could do!

Happy Friday!

PS  For those keeping score, three posts in one week is a 2015 first for this gal!  She's back!!

  2. Love seeing this as I'm in the process of quilting and binding my delectable quilt. I made it for the same reasons living surrounded by mountains.

  16. Hello Kathy, I am so happy to have found your lovely blog. This quilt is beautiful and the way you photographed it among the colorful leaves and the lake. Wow! You certainly live in a beautiful part of the country, one that I have never seen. I've been enjoying going through some of your posts. The mountains and the amazing color that you have this time of the year . . . it's very breathtaking. We live in the lovely state of Washington, but in the center area which is mostly dessert. Most people do not realize that we have a dessert. Much of your state is forest, mountains, lakes and of course the ocean. Well, I have rambled on haven't I . . . sorry to burn your ears off. it's just always fun to meet a sister quilter.
    Have a nice week.
    Connie :)
