Boston Marathon Support

I have started another quilt for one of my buddies:

Did you know how many Star Wars fabrics are available?  It was not difficult to find a wide range of Star Wars patterns for this project.  (Aside:  While shopping I heard people asking for "Frozen" fabric.  I've seen the movie.  Good but not great.  I don't get it.  What is the mania about this movie?  I love a good Disney movie as much, or more, than anyone but really, the statistics around this movie are amazing.)

But mostly my sewing machine is on a little vacation with not much sewing going on.

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.  I wish you a day of joy and bunny treats!  I am looking forward to eating chocolate!  No sweets during Lent = six pounds lost!  Now, the challenge will be not to gain it all back tomorrow!

Monday is the Boston Marathon.  We are planning to join the thousands of spectators who will be cheering on the runners from Heartbreak Hill.  But I also have another little tiny role in the marathon.  I am sure you have read about the amazing work done by the Boston Modern Quilt Guild collecting thousands of blocks from quilters around the world and assembling these blocks into hundreds of beautiful quilts that have  been given to survivors, first responders and others impacted by the awful events at last years Marathon.

Although I was not a guild member while these quilts were being made, like many of you, I did contribute a few blocks to the effort.  One of my blocks just happens to be included in one of the 30 quilts that will be hung in the medical tents at the finish of the Marathon and will be hung annually, becoming part of the  legacy of the Marathon.  Please take some time and jump over to the BMQG blog to see these beautiful quilts.  Boston Strong indeed.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend!
Kathy
