A very successful fabric shopping adventure yielded a wide array of Star Wars themed fabrics.
I started by making 9.5" framed blocks of the characters using white scraps (can you spot the couple of places where Kona Snow was accidentally used instead of Kona White...oh well, my buddy won't notice). I then cut some 9.5" squares of the larger scale prints, made a few four patch blocks and a few on-point blocks.
This is a busy quilt! I think he will enjoy searching through all the blocks for characters and scenes from his (and his father's!) favorite movie franchise!
Now, off to order some soft minky for the backing! Linking up with Lorna's Let's Bee Social and Amanda Jean's finish it up Friday parties!

ReplyDeleteWow, Kathy! What a fabulous finish! I love the variety of blocks used. Adds a lot of interest! This quilt keeps the eyes moving. You have given me some inspiration. I have a bundle of Spider Man fabric that would work in a setting like this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you did with the "audience" fabric! I need to kick myself into gear on an audience oriented quilt too. Its just hard with so many pretties. :D
ReplyDeleteNice work! Yes sometimes you must please your audience. I love that there are so many different things to look at. And the Kona white vs Snow only adds character!
ReplyDeleteI am not a kid but I LOVE Star Wars. This is just awesome and really made me smile!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Especially how your design makes all these very busy fabric work together in harmony.
ReplyDeleteI end up putting aside the lovely designer cottons often in favor of pop culture novelties like these... after all, it's all about how happy it makes the recipient!
Oh Wow! I also know several men in my family that would love this one! Good choice of fabrics, and pattern!
