Being a clueless Aunt, I corresponded with the very helpful Soma at Whims and Fancies who set me on the right path. I have been doing quite a bit of paper piecing lately as part of the T-Shirt Quilt finish, so I had some momentum. Right after Christmas I started on these blocks.

What to do with two paper pieced Dr. Who blocks? Make a book bag of course.
For her sister I just had to use some chalkboard fabric (sorry, did not get a picture of the table runner I made with this material) to make her a book bag:

Great Doctor Who bags. While sick and in bed I have been catching up with the newer series...I use to watch it as a kid in NZ. Those paper piecing blocks are great, especially K9. I did not know about the QAL only the embroidery blocks that Kristel @ http://wipgirl.wordpress.com had done to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

What a lucky pair of nieces you have, my dear! Those are two very sweet and useful gifts you made for them. I especially admire your paper pieced blocks. Awesome job, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteDropping in from the Let's Bee Social link up - I was reading the entry you'd linked, but then saw this one listed down the side and I'm a big Doctor Who fan, so I had to come see what you'd made :D Your Tardis and K9 look awesome! I bet that was a well-loved gift :D
