Summer Day Sewing

Some days the weather is so beautiful, you just have to take your work outside.
Three sides to go in handsewing down the binding.

My super-supportive and observant husband came up with the idea for my next project.  We lost our beautiful dog Kasey about a month ago (blogged about here and here) and have been slowly deciding what to do with all her things.  This is a collection of scarves from her spa days over the years:
Mr. KayakQuilting observed that triangles were a common shape used in quilting and suggested "we" make a quilt...great idea!  A little while later, this random collection of various shaped triangles became this pile:
...on the way to being a Kasey Kerchief Quilt.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  1. What a view for finishing a binding! Will be looking for finished-project photos. I think your husband's idea to use the kerchiefs to make a quilt honoring Kasey is a wonderful one.

  2. beautiful summer/lake/quilt photo :)

  3. What a lovely idea to use the scarves. I wish you lots of fond memories while working on that quilt.

  4. I love the colours/fabrics you are using in the quilt you are binding. Almost finished!

  5. What a wonderful idea. I suppose husbands are good for somethings!

  6. That is the most ingenuous idea ever! Aren't husbands grand when they support what you do? Can hardly wait to see the finished quilt top.

  7. That will be such a fabulous memory quilt..have a great weekend, Hugs, Julierose

  8. Oh that's such a lovely idea! :-)
