What's Going On In the Sewing Room?

I was looking around my sewing room the other day and this is what caught my eye...

Hooray!  Finally a thread catcher and pin cushion that matches the lovely minty green color of the room.  Pattern is here.
I love selvages!  My two jars, separated lights and darks, are getting full.  I need to make more selvage blocks!
What to do with these cross stitch finishes?
These bags contain scraps from projects that I have been reluctant to separate.  I need to bravely dig into some of these this year.
And in exciting news, I've started two quilts!  More fun details to follow!
Looking around the sewing room I noticed what I thought was an over abundance of low volume fabrics.  So I cut a bit up thinking I was finally going to make that low volume scrappy quilt that's been on my wish list for a while.
Hmmmm...seems like it is more like a "not quite a low volume" quilt. But I will continue!
Progress in the sewing room has been slowed down by beautiful winter weather here at the lake.

Wishing you a lovely day wherever you are!
Kathy

  1. I really like your so "low" volume quilt.

    1. Thanks Donna! I think I just need to think of it as something other than "low volume!"

  2. I love the low-ish volume! Have you seen Vonna Pfeiffer's cross stitch finishes? She has some lovely things. My mom gave me a pile of things she finished but never framed and I'm hoping to get some of them finished.

  3. Your low-volume quilt top is beautiful! Your fabrics are so interesting; this is a quilt that could be looked at for hours just to enjoy the different prints and how you combined them. Thank you for sharing your work-in-progress. I can't wait to see more of it!

    1. Thanks Juliana! I suspect this is going to become one of those side projects for when I need a little mindless sewing. It will get finished!!

  4. Instead of low volume, perhaps this quilt should be called Dim the Lights!!

  6. A great thread catcher is so handy. Even better if it matches the room! I think your selvage containers are great. Mine are stuck in ziplock bags. And your low volume quilt is stunning.
