The Splendid Sampler quilt along has been the most consistent sewing project of the summer. I am just a little behind and feeling better how this is coming along.
Have you seen the #100days100blocks City Sampler QAL in Instagram? Every day I see beautiful blocks from Tula Pink's City Sampler book. This has encouraged me to finish the quilt top with the 100 beautiful blocks I made last year! Deciding on a setting from the book, I have framed each block. This is what my 100 blocks looks like today:
We also had a little craft time and, no surprise, I suggested drawing blocks to remember their New Hampshire vacation that I would make into a quilt.
Any suggestions or advice for incorporating these blocks made with fabric markers into a quilt?
As much as I will miss summer, September promises to be a little quieter month with more time for sewing! Yay!

If hey each have one block they drew, I would use it for the middle of a log cabin block using the colors from their drawings. If there are many maybe sash with different colors and set them improv style into some background fabric. Your lake is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour Splendid Sampler blocks are absolutely lovely! I love the scrappiness. Every block is different but meshes with the others perfectly. That first picture of the water is beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo of the kids fishing. Summer is so divine, isn't it? Sounds like yours was special. I love the 100 blocks you are doing - want to see the finished piece when you are done.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty pictures. Our summer has been especially humid and I'm welcoming fall, too. Your Splendid blocks are looking splendid!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your 1st summer living on the lake was wonderful :-) Your blocks look fantastic. I can't believe that when first heard about the sampler - I seriously considered joining in. Good thing I didn't; my year has been so so busy!
ReplyDeleteI adore the fishes' eyelashes :-)
happy sewing ~ Tracy
