Having only been quilting for a year, I remember thinking that making these 100 blocks to the books specification would help to improve my piecing accuracy. I happily purchased a few fat quarter bundles and coordinating solids and set off at my own pace to make each block.</p><p>I looked forward to taking the time to fussy cut Tula's fabulous fabric and select matching solids. The block construction effort ranges from pretty straight forward to challenging and I love them all.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZrpsZNRktJYv0j5kvwlqJ91YZncLz87ggXoEP--qPy6WqLNc3uXVgpoxEOhKk33J0GmQonxn4T6PWjGFyVt2KGHKdLcxrwJV2hIynuNQgDCLyug7HY8zoRPr1U-MJeFnQA9zCdBapliRyRfef3emnFeZKa7qvUFhcQZK2I1BG0eYNA7TM3wUofwWIEg/s1800/7C44AFDB-B070-4591-BDDF-588AFD399817.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZrpsZNRktJYv0j5kvwlqJ91YZncLz87ggXoEP--qPy6WqLNc3uXVgpoxEOhKk33J0GmQonxn4T6PWjGFyVt2KGHKdLcxrwJV2hIynuNQgDCLyug7HY8zoRPr1U-MJeFnQA9zCdBapliRyRfef3emnFeZKa7qvUFhcQZK2I1BG0eYNA7TM3wUofwWIEg/w512-h640/7C44AFDB-B070-4591-BDDF-588AFD399817.jpeg" width="512" /></a></div><p>All 100 blocks were finished in 2015 but it took some time to conclude on a layout. Again at the time there were so many people making this quilt and I was impressed and perhaps a little intimidated by the clever way in which people arranged the blocks. In the end as I had not made the blocks with any forethought as to color, I went with a random block layout and a sashing suggestion from the book in a neutral gray.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWUSbn-qb3qugWK9ejgvK6JEx7R2IwHhwHYMr7Kbw1Ff-z6-2vnqZkiiBiyYsCkiFgizUTkdHTrrdP8WpsDwtIZrIi-MKvEXqzauZNfATQFgvsNAXWlOoodELeCa8ERSeIuW0HH_0ZluOLjD21KeXEFRMS2ZXAzCKZGDZ1qUypO3jMNHIdcoko_kpyww/s1800/2A27B2F6-3A3F-49E2-B0E3-0D6329EF4BB7.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWUSbn-qb3qugWK9ejgvK6JEx7R2IwHhwHYMr7Kbw1Ff-z6-2vnqZkiiBiyYsCkiFgizUTkdHTrrdP8WpsDwtIZrIi-MKvEXqzauZNfATQFgvsNAXWlOoodELeCa8ERSeIuW0HH_0ZluOLjD21KeXEFRMS2ZXAzCKZGDZ1qUypO3jMNHIdcoko_kpyww/w512-h640/2A27B2F6-3A3F-49E2-B0E3-0D6329EF4BB7.jpeg" width="512" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCnNkG_fIcjD2U4KI9c6PB9b2N367p-yfG9eHA9TLrjkQ1IQ7X2ckB0dF1FfbPuBJOkeL5xfSTzz7FyZuGc7LfMHIFEt1uCetGzlqJQotNHfLFLrlrr_O8vy0zVHxC74aBIn1Sne2w_UIDvBC61P7p5kkUU2jsufb_UI7AB6PKlgWrMVwiyesWVVNdcA/s1800/003C4F36-79E2-4DD7-A956-355C8C850202.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCnNkG_fIcjD2U4KI9c6PB9b2N367p-yfG9eHA9TLrjkQ1IQ7X2ckB0dF1FfbPuBJOkeL5xfSTzz7FyZuGc7LfMHIFEt1uCetGzlqJQotNHfLFLrlrr_O8vy0zVHxC74aBIn1Sne2w_UIDvBC61P7p5kkUU2jsufb_UI7AB6PKlgWrMVwiyesWVVNdcA/w512-h640/003C4F36-79E2-4DD7-A956-355C8C850202.jpeg" width="512" /></a></div><p></p><p>Continuing the multi-year saga, in 2017 I quilted this very large quilt on my Handiquilter Sweet Sixteen. By then I had been free motion quilting all my quilts and had been heavily influenced by on-line tutorials, classes and books by quilting master Angela Walters who, it turns out, had quilted the quilt blocks in Tula's book. Therefore, I continued my apprenticeship with Angela and attempted to follow her quilting style on my quilt. I have two goals with this post: to continue to document a finished quilt and to see if there is a technical problem with this blog. In May I created four finished quilt posts that yielded zero views on Bloglovin. Now, I know that this little site has been quiet, but really, noone??? Now that I have more time on my hands I'd hope to reengage with the blog community that was so important in my early days of quilting. How do you read blogs? Is there a blog reader other than Bloglovin that I should research?</p><p>Back to the important matters. Baby quilts are a joy to make and give. This lovely quilt is <a href="https://suzyquilts.com/" target="_blank">SuzyQuilts</a> Indian Summer Quilt (that has been rereleased as Summer Haze) made out of a gorgeous bundle of fabrics from Cottoneer Fabrics perfect for a baby girl who will be spending lots of time outdoors.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCcGIv-QDtZYhr3sjNfz58LS5LeZhgxjb0VkquMGABQpGdA-qNN7_BnL8hiV47t_Lv6lN8tZe6hR-o7k4J41-aRVFNI1NcYhmI1FTkLhaXG37WM93ZOXHFiCUa9BjFcKnyPJGHtU47M0WJJdupN_mYpPJCm2RWOm62mb9aEuPWtQPd-uumAUb9FyrB4g/s4032/5524A20D-C2A9-40E4-A005-1C855BE4C384_1_201_a.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCcGIv-QDtZYhr3sjNfz58LS5LeZhgxjb0VkquMGABQpGdA-qNN7_BnL8hiV47t_Lv6lN8tZe6hR-o7k4J41-aRVFNI1NcYhmI1FTkLhaXG37WM93ZOXHFiCUa9BjFcKnyPJGHtU47M0WJJdupN_mYpPJCm2RWOm62mb9aEuPWtQPd-uumAUb9FyrB4g/w480-h640/5524A20D-C2A9-40E4-A005-1C855BE4C384_1_201_a.heic" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtEaFJzPGewK6WJsPfuCeqjTPvFxDKnWAiBkg4V30pkPSTCQ3xBzMLscUAltG-Rpdx3HX3Gl3XZcLsqumlkAkOwaASsatyE6HzlFcxrVAwgV0AwJb-YdXAKOc_P8-EOnXTJgN41wuTIxbY5QyEcMsJBGkMYFGVKV8yXQ0o7PegMQ9iCf35FXU2mKTZcw/s4032/5961633A-F106-40B9-8F60-8CE00479DB1E.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtEaFJzPGewK6WJsPfuCeqjTPvFxDKnWAiBkg4V30pkPSTCQ3xBzMLscUAltG-Rpdx3HX3Gl3XZcLsqumlkAkOwaASsatyE6HzlFcxrVAwgV0AwJb-YdXAKOc_P8-EOnXTJgN41wuTIxbY5QyEcMsJBGkMYFGVKV8yXQ0o7PegMQ9iCf35FXU2mKTZcw/w480-h640/5961633A-F106-40B9-8F60-8CE00479DB1E.heic" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">If anyone is keeping track this is my sixth SuzyQuilt finished quilt. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1rkTwRWxjuh6m_htu45n4amybJ8sYM9vFKf77TXXEk3rwxf3k3Jk_bBj_uYBq0EP0FFGSOUYBhG7UOiA5nDFuDm9ftRMGmDXEUWBFRzBTLwDuaU5V65QILMh9UP9d2ts7FHpXrTO9haMU5UxZKWbZdDuyFSkFGT5k-3aXOIiWR9dAeurxucQu3tKUlw/s4032/E18865F2-26E0-4828-A0FD-204FCFF7F7B6.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1rkTwRWxjuh6m_htu45n4amybJ8sYM9vFKf77TXXEk3rwxf3k3Jk_bBj_uYBq0EP0FFGSOUYBhG7UOiA5nDFuDm9ftRMGmDXEUWBFRzBTLwDuaU5V65QILMh9UP9d2ts7FHpXrTO9haMU5UxZKWbZdDuyFSkFGT5k-3aXOIiWR9dAeurxucQu3tKUlw/w480-h640/E18865F2-26E0-4828-A0FD-204FCFF7F7B6.heic" width="480" /></a></div><p></p><p>There's nothing like the soft crinkly in a quilt after washing. You can see that beauty <a href="http://kayakquilting.blogspot.com/2019/01/modern-fans-quilt-finish-part-one.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://kayakquilting.blogspot.com/2019/01/modern-fans-quilt-finish-part-two.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I loved making that quilt. Sewing the curves was so relaxing and rewarding. I had some fabric and partially sewn components remaining and tucked them away for another quilt. We are fortunate to know people having babies and "needing" a KayakQuilting quilt. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidVA8duBM995FrzhYe0L4XOnm8kTHWambBcJlFH-pWxUyE6tNXGKmigOMs67akwMfqohbxaFVgfGVwIJq1e3PAqc17ShkhC23VfAMjdmGucoyJ70ong4hHRuqPn4dg0YnOUvgb_RhWOmKE9pu5ZHRnNjCv3rnl6oT3euPnpjKVmA8cPwvGo1Q6c2zmaw/s4032/7iVM7izqS1idkidYIvzfZQ.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidVA8duBM995FrzhYe0L4XOnm8kTHWambBcJlFH-pWxUyE6tNXGKmigOMs67akwMfqohbxaFVgfGVwIJq1e3PAqc17ShkhC23VfAMjdmGucoyJ70ong4hHRuqPn4dg0YnOUvgb_RhWOmKE9pu5ZHRnNjCv3rnl6oT3euPnpjKVmA8cPwvGo1Q6c2zmaw/w480-h640/7iVM7izqS1idkidYIvzfZQ.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmx4PRXWgQq96Ai9RLzK4HHBd5N7sozzKIDtaUI1WIZj45HqKok7G8UzckdmtrbkOs_vhwDa57NI2kNR4UC3LUXGfmVgM8w7WER7sYfB8FCuEHPXwF-e8yIyL3kBUxdHWuQ6TxFiGBYnC4DdOTyGeb7uMR-O0zcYuye8n5n463TcJ8Lf3xr41ao-UIRg/s4032/fmysir6cQBWZHCg9ePjphw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmx4PRXWgQq96Ai9RLzK4HHBd5N7sozzKIDtaUI1WIZj45HqKok7G8UzckdmtrbkOs_vhwDa57NI2kNR4UC3LUXGfmVgM8w7WER7sYfB8FCuEHPXwF-e8yIyL3kBUxdHWuQ6TxFiGBYnC4DdOTyGeb7uMR-O0zcYuye8n5n463TcJ8Lf3xr41ao-UIRg/w480-h640/fmysir6cQBWZHCg9ePjphw.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">This little baby quilt will join two others that I gifted to older siblings, each quilt unique to the child. A few years ago I had purchased the panel with all the adorable forest animals and some fabric from this line. When I decided to focus on making Christmas quilts at the beginning of last year, I knew I wanted to do something with this panel. But alas I did not have enough of the Merriment fabric for this pattern. Thanks to a very sweet quilting friend who had just completed this same quilt and gifted me her scraps (!!), I had what I needed for the quilt.</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgP4xWpo97bQY-70eBuzb-yNwgzkV7pSmsZz7oQjJoeo-MLvLhA74hjp3LtVwJNQvnrw2CXYHUlRUlg1TuVryKcBl6p8vsAtzfHeZ4MsSau0u-_OQPfPZKTiiGImR8BtPIgNi_MxZWI2TFkMlDHxziow55vWbR1HheARRTiq6wgv8939jVnp3HLPComOg=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgP4xWpo97bQY-70eBuzb-yNwgzkV7pSmsZz7oQjJoeo-MLvLhA74hjp3LtVwJNQvnrw2CXYHUlRUlg1TuVryKcBl6p8vsAtzfHeZ4MsSau0u-_OQPfPZKTiiGImR8BtPIgNi_MxZWI2TFkMlDHxziow55vWbR1HheARRTiq6wgv8939jVnp3HLPComOg=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgggjsew5ym2ZHYTP2lrr_jRgdNRyidc6M1lSspB2RqrZXx1KnSMHRIzgbsD5qiihoeEDAgN_008laZ7DiSow_7Uq0lDsjy4kY7oAft9jh0ABWFxAq_329BXUsCaZ032T8KkHL-0GtgCOWCJ9dbOCKRhqPiH0qAaviVtUiixsdbBpm0CgtpWHQ3qlW8yw=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgggjsew5ym2ZHYTP2lrr_jRgdNRyidc6M1lSspB2RqrZXx1KnSMHRIzgbsD5qiihoeEDAgN_008laZ7DiSow_7Uq0lDsjy4kY7oAft9jh0ABWFxAq_329BXUsCaZ032T8KkHL-0GtgCOWCJ9dbOCKRhqPiH0qAaviVtUiixsdbBpm0CgtpWHQ3qlW8yw=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgbhkdls-yhFAiZvR5nX4SGrnqRUTmi4jYeluBbrAR5vMnivuqrs44ZQUHCgzKfE224A4ntAnG1MnatsUq2F2sQ1-kuo8Kdp_Ay22PNEb-HCL8J-jRWZQAbqyns68Zwwhs-Kzs5yZ-sBbM-9eUrYY9vIFkLFgGvy3xEM-MkqnhqLSiOQjbd7LGz5GbLgg=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgbhkdls-yhFAiZvR5nX4SGrnqRUTmi4jYeluBbrAR5vMnivuqrs44ZQUHCgzKfE224A4ntAnG1MnatsUq2F2sQ1-kuo8Kdp_Ay22PNEb-HCL8J-jRWZQAbqyns68Zwwhs-Kzs5yZ-sBbM-9eUrYY9vIFkLFgGvy3xEM-MkqnhqLSiOQjbd7LGz5GbLgg=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhnf-6c8Ez0c4oJLiGn-KDtcyV9fe8_0u95s3KC8F_bydduanIIZEpZbmovg1WN-82h_8judVW-JqnlSab-vY4g4eHevcufuSv1VIaXvq63T_AU9OO4qViwRQSMDm7eqZnFyo8OJKWKYEv785OBZh63_ql6A10c_ZT6Pf52Ts5KDLi8YxTCzvoWy7zhKA=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhnf-6c8Ez0c4oJLiGn-KDtcyV9fe8_0u95s3KC8F_bydduanIIZEpZbmovg1WN-82h_8judVW-JqnlSab-vY4g4eHevcufuSv1VIaXvq63T_AU9OO4qViwRQSMDm7eqZnFyo8OJKWKYEv785OBZh63_ql6A10c_ZT6Pf52Ts5KDLi8YxTCzvoWy7zhKA=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><p></p><p>It was gifted to my son and daugher-in-law who have many framed Gingiber art pieces in their home. Her patterns are fun, well written and impactful. I looked forward to Lorna's regular blog posts, back in the day when I was actually good about following blogs and posting regularly myself. At the same time, I was falling in love with modern fabric designers and couldn't get enough Tula Pink in my modest fabric collection. Well, the stars aligned, Lorna published <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/666151645/sweater-weather-quilt-pattern-pdf?click_key=bb719aef49de55e5b342446dc8685cc73f993444%3A666151645&click_sum=6ac8a48f&ga_search_query=sweater&ref=shop_items_search_5" target="_blank">Sweater Weather</a> using Tula's Holiday Homies line and I knew I had to make this quilt some day. Right before my local quilt store (Keepsake Quilting!) closed, I did something I'd never done and still is a first, bought the quilt kit.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhMaHs3V5e8Z0cbPCyxVlUpfupoo3DfOL-h3PRWozQY3IPO2cYAa81JORJhJ355pg8zf7nbHhSVwAtVrQfIpQv1V1fIpmdqMjWZ2HdNsRIh057K-rxiovF0DhhXnKIWNjVMzd6WYkScOGgqP4QFeWezO9OhjVT8xqNDZgpx0MoU-QtxnJpkH7boeWZS4Q=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhMaHs3V5e8Z0cbPCyxVlUpfupoo3DfOL-h3PRWozQY3IPO2cYAa81JORJhJ355pg8zf7nbHhSVwAtVrQfIpQv1V1fIpmdqMjWZ2HdNsRIh057K-rxiovF0DhhXnKIWNjVMzd6WYkScOGgqP4QFeWezO9OhjVT8xqNDZgpx0MoU-QtxnJpkH7boeWZS4Q=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgHxysqK6yiZ_BN5IkYyF4zPlKKQPvk63IvaCIbseexQDcVuHW8lyy-cG8X4bJpkHKZCsVTJx3I9zHBcg6RTmBqCzAQ2vBWh6N_Lr_oZMI-POJdAON3waeJJGJ5W7V24AbvtzUMY7GvaOsvO6UkbQ8OxkRepZcWL7y_ydr1LFDjTtacqO98oklj8lHzCQ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgHxysqK6yiZ_BN5IkYyF4zPlKKQPvk63IvaCIbseexQDcVuHW8lyy-cG8X4bJpkHKZCsVTJx3I9zHBcg6RTmBqCzAQ2vBWh6N_Lr_oZMI-POJdAON3waeJJGJ5W7V24AbvtzUMY7GvaOsvO6UkbQ8OxkRepZcWL7y_ydr1LFDjTtacqO98oklj8lHzCQ=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjzc8QDnfS7OjbBBDpSvvwsK8nJ1vHmJBlE_kv335t6TBcqTGT9oQYJzF6WGontOe_4djsfpRLVQ0Gp4z991ZdiKyn7hqKgDB_OquKXrXowmf24qSQjSHPWHiazSOMln4uTOuxamaL_nnPwK5qFjy8uxh76YqUOnn41jdmomvSQA8ErZWViKP9DSgikrQ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjzc8QDnfS7OjbBBDpSvvwsK8nJ1vHmJBlE_kv335t6TBcqTGT9oQYJzF6WGontOe_4djsfpRLVQ0Gp4z991ZdiKyn7hqKgDB_OquKXrXowmf24qSQjSHPWHiazSOMln4uTOuxamaL_nnPwK5qFjy8uxh76YqUOnn41jdmomvSQA8ErZWViKP9DSgikrQ=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div>I free motion quilted with loopy circles and snowflakes. <div><br /></div><div>This is the second of four holiday quilts I gifted this holiday season, given to a family that is already well covered with KayakQuilting output but, what the heck, what's another quilt when it is this cute?! <p><br /></p></div>Kathy@KayakQuiltinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11353296552837405021noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2969508288010921232.post-59047964096453682302021-12-30T10:40:00.000-05:002021-12-30T10:40:15.124-05:00Finished - Christmas Plaidish Quilt<p>Generally I am disciplined when it comes to discretionary fabric purchases except for a few categories such as Charley Harper prints and Christmas fabric of any style. At the beginning of the pandemic (can anyone remember that far back?) I spread out my Christmas fabric collection in all its various shapes and forms and concluded that it was time to actually USE these precious slices of cotton. </p><p>The Plaidish quilt is a <a href="https://www.kitchentablequilting.com/2019/06/plaid-ish-scrap-quilt-and-tutorial.html" target="_blank">FREE pattern by Erica of Kitchen Table Quilting</a>. I don't know if I will ever get back to quilt in-process posts on this blog but maintaining a catalog of finishes will ensure you get to see the final product. </p><p>Economy block quilts are perfect for fussy cutting fun motifs for little ones. With the exception of a few Mickey Mouse prints, I had all of this fabric in my stash (see note below on the stash status).</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRl3tapbf-y4FoOjYOXw2t0M-lv3UFRM27BiFcdcTikF7dL5UoReXo-BUAMbsdSFRLTuSuc95OzUrR6FwdUdTG3XLxweXhfAP76uO3yY0HvFgqcbCTO81j3aAM-6RAiDEjQSAx_I3rCgBG/s1440/8111B7DC-0BBF-4744-AEC3-254FE39A1E2D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRl3tapbf-y4FoOjYOXw2t0M-lv3UFRM27BiFcdcTikF7dL5UoReXo-BUAMbsdSFRLTuSuc95OzUrR6FwdUdTG3XLxweXhfAP76uO3yY0HvFgqcbCTO81j3aAM-6RAiDEjQSAx_I3rCgBG/w640-h640/8111B7DC-0BBF-4744-AEC3-254FE39A1E2D.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAEF2xhycqyaSMSwvWI0zN-V5IIlHpM3bTXRQpYDYaLOXh26hhqiudJquEzL1GI55i5TVx7Sm5weDM52EawLyK07RwmA7JwXd1RX80S1TX-hoK9Rc9YRiRFSHsAPj7bNdwyfByZMi-C9-h/s1440/7E8F4E07-5F25-44B6-B9B1-B939960B5353.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1439" data-original-width="1440" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAEF2xhycqyaSMSwvWI0zN-V5IIlHpM3bTXRQpYDYaLOXh26hhqiudJquEzL1GI55i5TVx7Sm5weDM52EawLyK07RwmA7JwXd1RX80S1TX-hoK9Rc9YRiRFSHsAPj7bNdwyfByZMi-C9-h/w640-h640/7E8F4E07-5F25-44B6-B9B1-B939960B5353.jpg" width="640" /></a><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">I made a very similar quilt for Milo's older cousin and seeing how much it has been loved, I had to make another. My goal was to use fabric on hand and, in some cases, this influenced the quilt style selected. With the exception of some very specific prints (like Mickey Mouse), one impulse buy and a lovely bundle of gifted Christmas scraps I have not added to my modest fabric collection. Now one would think that this would result in a noticeable decrease in the stash but that did not happen! I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever use all this fabric in my lifetime! The more likely scenario is that I will continue to buy fabric that warms my heart and let the kids deal with the remaining collection after I'm gone!</p>Kathy@KayakQuiltinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11353296552837405021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2969508288010921232.post-1690127880938505402020-12-31T13:13:00.001-05:002021-01-09T10:42:23.031-05:00Finished - Ohio Star and Pillows <p> Catching up on my finishes for 2020, I must include this one. I started this quilt a few years ago with the goal of making a dent in my collection of peach and light orange scraps. I started collecting low volume fabrics a few years ago needing a break from all the bright fabrics and the calm was welcome. Turns out I had A LOT of low volume fabric as I finished <a href="http://kayakquilting.blogspot.com/2019/01/finished-low-volume-trip-around-world.html" target="_blank">this queen size quilt</a> and still had plenty to make at least two more quilts. Earlier this year when I was looking for meditative quarantine sewing, I started making these partial seam blocks using <a href="https://www.redpepperquilts.com/2017/11/bright-hopes-quilt-block-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Red Pepper Quilts Bright Hope block tutorial</a>. </p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUjjYVgdBv7dXXT6FY-cR0q2y3Kf0_0bUO4Ye39kbhApnaGrFLgFIWFuOJtHeDuHK7pTxweQJ_8nsZO2E5bqH5EfdzlAQQNv01PrSO_MlUngDYZrl6US0spTRgGV_hvhm9pQ2EwCelf1Ic/s2048/6l9vt5FaR6O9xJh2B9XobQ.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUjjYVgdBv7dXXT6FY-cR0q2y3Kf0_0bUO4Ye39kbhApnaGrFLgFIWFuOJtHeDuHK7pTxweQJ_8nsZO2E5bqH5EfdzlAQQNv01PrSO_MlUngDYZrl6US0spTRgGV_hvhm9pQ2EwCelf1Ic/w640-h640/6l9vt5FaR6O9xJh2B9XobQ.jpg" width="640" /></a></p><p>I ended up with over 250 5 inch blocks, plenty for two good sized lap quilts. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWs4ajKpq9RTAjk_p1AKaalUHDfp0zEGyKx6ky-bRjPxf8o6OqZ-IJW2Gx4I5wbJctCtsA8joX6-a83q82L3M_IgGyzn-Laro6RGkvIYzUEK_iHpUsmlHlj6fzHE9RhIk6xCN1rdxUyhND/s2048/3jwXE7F%252BT52AzfGDQdeIXA.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWs4ajKpq9RTAjk_p1AKaalUHDfp0zEGyKx6ky-bRjPxf8o6OqZ-IJW2Gx4I5wbJctCtsA8joX6-a83q82L3M_IgGyzn-Laro6RGkvIYzUEK_iHpUsmlHlj6fzHE9RhIk6xCN1rdxUyhND/w480-h640/3jwXE7F%252BT52AzfGDQdeIXA.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNcgLasf-uFs1LqcSsDpRKZRRN-tycXaauYyuoC2HzW6YSwkEy3vjH_yeqDT8QCFEzpRngGqJ1tZ_Ez994QME8M3yFje6an80eKyV-A8fQEMwVnSCY4wUBOy3PHX460EGibOGm4UKFb7iP/s2048/jmEgczIHTNi8aGuPFj050A.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNcgLasf-uFs1LqcSsDpRKZRRN-tycXaauYyuoC2HzW6YSwkEy3vjH_yeqDT8QCFEzpRngGqJ1tZ_Ez994QME8M3yFje6an80eKyV-A8fQEMwVnSCY4wUBOy3PHX460EGibOGm4UKFb7iP/w480-h640/jmEgczIHTNi8aGuPFj050A.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_Ts9BmS88DnWfl6rod1Rdu_-839Cj8WwvUC1MYacULIM8ph5k9M_otySYHHEKFhQIBIJ7aLY27cC8xU9Id3QJ4Yc8Z950VVLSovoIyW4HCNvqSPeeP-HezSS1lFkV71nUVK2oehzeXR3z/s2048/sWpz3eAjToC39EObsAdeGA.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_Ts9BmS88DnWfl6rod1Rdu_-839Cj8WwvUC1MYacULIM8ph5k9M_otySYHHEKFhQIBIJ7aLY27cC8xU9Id3QJ4Yc8Z950VVLSovoIyW4HCNvqSPeeP-HezSS1lFkV71nUVK2oehzeXR3z/w640-h640/sWpz3eAjToC39EObsAdeGA.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcwWVU6sCQvyNhjWQtCK3MjpWv13SGpH0XXDs2tPjZexk0ca0ONjhfY88y43axOeCazlSoKxfOAUJAdttwJRZnr8nDLhwT8TqGy71-2c4r80rAbo-5x7qy92kPOGkHKh0orj1OjEbCaKPI/s2048/WXrE21A1TCe6fCq5OCWunA.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcwWVU6sCQvyNhjWQtCK3MjpWv13SGpH0XXDs2tPjZexk0ca0ONjhfY88y43axOeCazlSoKxfOAUJAdttwJRZnr8nDLhwT8TqGy71-2c4r80rAbo-5x7qy92kPOGkHKh0orj1OjEbCaKPI/w480-h640/WXrE21A1TCe6fCq5OCWunA.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><p>Finished with my favorite backing fabric, all over stipple quilting and hand sewn binding. Quite shocking considering my love of the holiday. Fear not, I am on a corrective path with much support and inspiration from <a href="http://frombolttobeauty.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Michelle From Bolt to Beauty</a>. </p><p>A few years ago I started to make Christmas themed blocks with no plan in mind. Those of you who have been hanging around here for a while will remember our family's love of all things Peanuts and won't be surprised that I had Charlie Brown Christmas fleece in my fabric collection. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9m_nlJjXqmRr9YirWIIr0qzAOUbZ52zxxnt0BpJVuM1j-k3h_1wUF-5Vcm0RQCc1uWmVwqPYNxamCrAJc-S1rR-QYGE468vLle2nxhkThWnRClJSNL7rodQvIAtfKuP8Yy4GiabnyR5WB/s2048/Q8OHBJ8lTlW1lS5BUwRaVw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9m_nlJjXqmRr9YirWIIr0qzAOUbZ52zxxnt0BpJVuM1j-k3h_1wUF-5Vcm0RQCc1uWmVwqPYNxamCrAJc-S1rR-QYGE468vLle2nxhkThWnRClJSNL7rodQvIAtfKuP8Yy4GiabnyR5WB/w480-h640/Q8OHBJ8lTlW1lS5BUwRaVw.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkysTWVNJUVFLc9b1jHhDa22u0Gcpl_k9gThdcUD9EQjsW0uUoD5Gi3lVap7wJOYi5-4FiuZ_aECf7jGbG3dlgFqZcO2tjXGV6Ip5rgMcWTvuLi79sns6bzFPoAwwxrYoR79OcL8K9epU/s2048/SOVDmpt0QneadegqZWaZ2Q.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkysTWVNJUVFLc9b1jHhDa22u0Gcpl_k9gThdcUD9EQjsW0uUoD5Gi3lVap7wJOYi5-4FiuZ_aECf7jGbG3dlgFqZcO2tjXGV6Ip5rgMcWTvuLi79sns6bzFPoAwwxrYoR79OcL8K9epU/w640-h640/SOVDmpt0QneadegqZWaZ2Q.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">One silver lining of our isolated Thanksgiving week was time for sewing. I look forward to returning as I was impressed with the shops mix of quilting and garment sewing fabrics. This quilt has a combination of quilting cottons and linens for extra textural interest. <p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqebBNleNx4r_aM7h9Rt_z1r47b26X0nmAQ2yb_LGrMuBurpPQs8FFL8uMOyuUq_oCpX7aZxnovEZGyFKfBJ6Coctphs0MZBrAwOnN8NQbcwLYnfS8u-TfKbSrk-Y0fp5qHtGjskbhlhC2/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqebBNleNx4r_aM7h9Rt_z1r47b26X0nmAQ2yb_LGrMuBurpPQs8FFL8uMOyuUq_oCpX7aZxnovEZGyFKfBJ6Coctphs0MZBrAwOnN8NQbcwLYnfS8u-TfKbSrk-Y0fp5qHtGjskbhlhC2/w480-h640/image.png" width="480" /></a></div>This is another instance of the backing fabric, a soft flannel from Joann Fabric, determining the quilt top colors. <p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgps_7RmFy1ClcZ5H44RmveNwoatLHZ1Ny9MgOk86s30JL33W7yILPIOpbcpmXWBNXT7I3lpxtcyt_W77n_DVkZxzqKIYWczo623hKixRclxcAs5ubo9JFivBNaYk0gTluOEwF2YQlr0hKq/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgps_7RmFy1ClcZ5H44RmveNwoatLHZ1Ny9MgOk86s30JL33W7yILPIOpbcpmXWBNXT7I3lpxtcyt_W77n_DVkZxzqKIYWczo623hKixRclxcAs5ubo9JFivBNaYk0gTluOEwF2YQlr0hKq/w480-h640/image.png" width="480" /></a></div><br />Keep smiling!<p></p><p>Kathy</p>Kathy@KayakQuiltinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11353296552837405021noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2969508288010921232.post-43939817977374798062020-11-16T13:59:00.001-05:002020-11-16T13:59:59.896-05:00Finished - Irish Chain from Scraps<p>One of the main reasons I started this little blog was to create a catalog of my finished quilts. Although I am considering creating a paper notebook to document my quilts. Has anyone done that? </p><p>So, here's a quick quilt that I finished earlier this year from scraps remaining from the bunk bed quilts (posted <a href="http://kayakquilting.blogspot.com/2016/02/finished-bunk-bed-quilts-and-family.html" target="_blank">here</a>). Another quilt completely made from materials on hand and added to the quilts to be donated collection!</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpHEDyoVKIeCQVWGmmYpljpP51t3pXSjqUhWK-xK7fX92ewWE5Ranbyc3u_MlnLHvWLO4fGI9d2aQhfI6ZYnISg7YaOTFFYwssnzj1PMDp7k02tSFDH1WM3CQSvzsPRQawaUwYOtVXM67K/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="1024" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpHEDyoVKIeCQVWGmmYpljpP51t3pXSjqUhWK-xK7fX92ewWE5Ranbyc3u_MlnLHvWLO4fGI9d2aQhfI6ZYnISg7YaOTFFYwssnzj1PMDp7k02tSFDH1WM3CQSvzsPRQawaUwYOtVXM67K/w640-h480/image.png" width="640" /></a></div> More finish posts to follow!<br /><br /><p></p><p>Keep smiling,</p><p>Kathy</p>Kathy@KayakQuiltinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11353296552837405021noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2969508288010921232.post-9917567776260661722020-05-11T11:29:00.000-04:002020-05-11T11:29:51.570-04:00Finished - Scrap Vortex QuiltFor several years I have been keeping a bag beside the sewing machine of little scraps. Too small to be put into the respective color scrap bin (yes, I am THAT person that has multiple scrap storage tiers) but too special to be thrown out. In the early stages of the quarantine I noted that the bag was overflowing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnuCZkR97RifIJog7Dp68V_pfQbhbSm3zI_2CD9kFA1XaNhCt0rE-MSvIjrSbb8oWZtK9J-yqBLIpQwJg6WhMpcJpcXXWovC9jbRMhvc8hQDXAUKvKvQoHjM_k-9OX_XpXyjN6ac1_Y8rE/s1600/gCoLWHp9RreVFRTw8CIUQg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnuCZkR97RifIJog7Dp68V_pfQbhbSm3zI_2CD9kFA1XaNhCt0rE-MSvIjrSbb8oWZtK9J-yqBLIpQwJg6WhMpcJpcXXWovC9jbRMhvc8hQDXAUKvKvQoHjM_k-9OX_XpXyjN6ac1_Y8rE/s640/gCoLWHp9RreVFRTw8CIUQg.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="text-align: center;">Doing a little research I rediscovered </span><a href="http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2015/06/scrap-vortex-qal-week-one.html" style="text-align: center;">Amanda Jean's scrap vortex quilt along. </a><span style="text-align: center;"> First step was prying all the little pieces and strips out of the bag and organizing them in some order. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-zPpC4qC2tkUSeUrr48uJIMz3iEh1YHzwBkDSXONyTnLyn4rFbNTGSxTViksvUdH7zf-UCZEauuVbyXjZmVIO_Thn4hYKSDSp9NNGqL6Mu7JbLaVLneMlVeXAsupprE2bwBYWcB4by64l/s1600/huAJlFfoTl%252BC%2525zv15LLXtg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-zPpC4qC2tkUSeUrr48uJIMz3iEh1YHzwBkDSXONyTnLyn4rFbNTGSxTViksvUdH7zf-UCZEauuVbyXjZmVIO_Thn4hYKSDSp9NNGqL6Mu7JbLaVLneMlVeXAsupprE2bwBYWcB4by64l/s640/huAJlFfoTl%252BC%2525zv15LLXtg.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Very, very little was thrown in the trash and every bit was used!<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjORLRnQTfLNxK2RQXIj-lvDuASZXtO0ib0YqZAzGSM_ldTFC7w-BiNU_uLyhjMuI6EKWwtElNsqlOKV-OgbknNUcZV7EFQcif6BFEHJhQ4g2KZVbPn7aqGHxlY99AOksGXY0LLHzdo5Nz/s1600/%2525y6zm19WRmyjH1UFW6RpDA.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjORLRnQTfLNxK2RQXIj-lvDuASZXtO0ib0YqZAzGSM_ldTFC7w-BiNU_uLyhjMuI6EKWwtElNsqlOKV-OgbknNUcZV7EFQcif6BFEHJhQ4g2KZVbPn7aqGHxlY99AOksGXY0LLHzdo5Nz/s640/%2525y6zm19WRmyjH1UFW6RpDA.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
I followed her recommendations and started with small pieces making small slabs and then just kept adding on. In the beginning I had my doubts as to whether this was ever going to build up into something cohesive. I stepped back and went back to review some of the beautiful quilts made as part of Amanda Jean's QAL (for example <a href="https://flourishingpalms.blogspot.com/p/2015-quilts.html">Linda's!</a>) and that gave me the inspiration to carry on!<br />
<br />
As the quilt blocks began to grow came the challenge of assembling some pretty random sized slabs.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-v8ywxdg8FfmyR_QuO5ny81rn1IVBW5PcELsODvgggV3CCFmnOzzhhobF-s4ApCzj6mRJdtl7wq0QABYDJ31CgC1svmvJILxt0xe3wtsIfUIB2O-KiLFAnHks21-cDnzht7En3LMJfRyF/s1600/9Xm7AfBtQQufc1fTZX7yAw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-v8ywxdg8FfmyR_QuO5ny81rn1IVBW5PcELsODvgggV3CCFmnOzzhhobF-s4ApCzj6mRJdtl7wq0QABYDJ31CgC1svmvJILxt0xe3wtsIfUIB2O-KiLFAnHks21-cDnzht7En3LMJfRyF/s640/9Xm7AfBtQQufc1fTZX7yAw.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
To my delight that little bag of bits and pieces came together pretty nicely! Perhaps I shouldn't have been too surprised under the theory that if I loved each of the little pieces then the odds would be good that I would like the compilation. <br />

Quilted in a simple meander this one is staying with me.<br />

<br />
In the end I enjoyed the process so much I have started two more bags including one just for Christmas bits and pieces!<br />
<br />
Keep smiling,<br />

I decided to turn this fabric into quilts for her daughters. The first is Skipping Pinwheels Quilt by <a href="http://www.myfabricrelish.com/">My Fabric Relish</a> .<br />

In coronavirus time it's now finished. The pattern is <a href="https://www.loandbeholdstitchery.com/products/celtic-crossing-quilt-pattern">Celtic Crossing from Lo & Behold Stitchery</a>. I love the diversity of Irish chain quilts and this one is a simple and clever version. <br />
